CHAGUARAMAS GOLF COURSE
Laid down by servicemen who built the Chaguaramas US Naval Base during World War II, this course presents a most spectacular setting. Total acreage: 72.9 hectares (180 acres).
Just 15 minutes drive from the capital Port of Spain, the course lies at the centre of the Chaguaramas National Park. It is a 39-hectare (96.4-acre) facility, featuring a splendid nine-hole layout with 18 tee boxes and an excellent 228.6-metre (250-yard) driving range. 18 holes, and siting a 100 room resort hotel and cabanas with countless leisure activities.

Institute of Marine Affairs

Morne Catherine:
This is the highest peak in the Chaguaramas area. A winding seven-mile road leads to the summit, with nature trails you may want to explore for wildlife sightings. The climb to Morne Catherine is a must if only for the captivating Tucker Valley and sea views.

Chaguaramas Military History and Aviation Museum:
Here, T & T’s military history is on display daily from 9am to 5pm. Museum building is housed with a surprisingly large number of items, such as; Amerindian artifacts, ancient weapons, model ships, military uniforms and photographs which shows the Trinidad’s military involvement in past conflicts and the Chaguaramas peninsula’s role as a military base. MACQUERIPE BAY
Nestled at the northern end of the lush Tucker Valley, Macqueripe Bay, with its scenic hills and secluded sandy beach, is ideally suited to the development of an upmarket resort hotel or two.

TRACKING STATION
The Satellite Station is perched on a nine-acre plateau offering dual visits of the rugged north coast to the east and Venezuela's mountains to the west. It is targeted for a health spa, recuperative centre or training resort.

PIER II/CARENAGE BAY
Strategically positioned on the peninsula, this extensive beachfront area is ideal for commercial investment: hotels, shopping facilities, entertainment centres, etc. Two piers (recently fallen) which stretched into natrual deep water can easily be restored to provide berthing facilities for cruise vessels and pleasure craft.

WILLIAMS BAY/WELCOME BAY
This long stretch of scenic waterfront is ideal for a recreational boardwalk with shops, entertainment and facilities for relaxation.

MONOS ISLAND
Perfect for a holiday resort, with small scale hotels and facilities. The fishing off the island is especially good.

CHACACHACARE
Twenty minutes from the mainland by boat, the contours of the 900 acre island are well suited for a full scale tourism centre, complete with hotels, entertainment centres and resort housing, etc.

NATIONAL PARK
Parts of the peninsula, particularly those areas more than 300 metres above sea level, are reserved for a national park. The numerous species of flora and fauna make these areas perfect for a nature resort.

TUCKER VALLEY SOUTH
At the Southern end of Tucker Valley, where one enters Chaguaramas, there is a 120 acre expanse of land ideally suited to the development of a recreational theme park.

WELCOME BAY/HART'S CUT
The enclave surrounded by these two bays represents one of the Caribbean's best sheltered coves, able to accommodate up to a thousand vessels. It is earmarked for a full-service marina. The hinterland offers opportunities for boat servicing and recreational facilities.

LIGHT INDUSTRY
Factory sites and buildings needing renovations can be leased at Chaguaramas for light manufacturing operations or warehousing.
In addition, concrete platforms in the spacious Grandwood area measuring 1.5m (5 ft) high with a base area of 2,727 sq. m (30,000 sq ft) each are also available.

ECO-EDUCATIONAL TOURS
Eco-Education tours are available on the Chaguaramas mainland as well as the offshore island of Gasparee. A mainland tour includes:
An audiovisual presentation of the Flora, Fauna, History and scenic beauty of Chaguaramas. A tour of our Interpretive Centre with its nature displays, general information and history of Chaguaramas; live exhibits, (Boa Constrictor, Caiman, etc) and souvenir shop. A visit to one or more Institutions, or historical tour of this former U.S. Naval Base. A hike on one of our trails.
Eco-Educational Tours of the mainland take a maximum of 5 hours. A full day tour is recommended, but any section of this tour is available on request. The following trails are highly recommended.

TUCKER WOODS/NORTH POST
A 7 km hike through lush vegetation to a ridge 530 metres above sea level, and down through cultivated forest to the North Coast.

COVIGNE RIVER
The trail begins at a Nutmeg Grove past historical sites, then upriver through a narrow twisting gorge, up a waterfall, and ending at an emerald bathing pool some 15 ft. in diameter.

EDITH FALLS
About 1.5km long, this trail winds its way gently through mixed vegetation, to end at the base of Edith Falls, which is approximately 180 meters high and truly awe-inspiring. This three-fingered waterfall is most striking during the wet season when rainfall is heavy. The walk to the 250-foot falls can take anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes. Call the Chaguaramas Development Authority seven days in advance to arrange a guided tour.

Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) has therefore created a number of sanctuaries for wild life. Hunting, bird catching, etc., are strictly prohibited throughout the Chaguaramas Bay Peninsula.
