Miss Heritage Personality

The woman in Tobago society is always seen as a bounty of resource and industry. Often they succeed under the most adverse of conditions and have consistently done so from the times of slavery to present day. Women triumph each day in their daily lives as parents, providers and cornerstones of society and admittedly are the means via which most of the cherished elements of heritage is transmitted.

The Ms. Heritage Personality element of the Tobago Heritage Festival seeks to bring to the spotlight the women in their own society and the contributions that they have made to the community. It is more than just a mere beauty pageant, indeed it seeks to emphasise that the woman is complete in her beauty and her talent - for industry, for craft, for her elegance.

Miss Heritage involves eight young ladies from various villages depicting different aspects of the Tobago's Heritage. They also compete in a talent presentation:

• Much more than a beauty pageant, this event brings to the spotlight the contributions that women of Tobago have made to their communities.
• The Miss Heritage Personality Contest is open to all women between ages 17 to 99.
• Contestants must portray an aspect of Tobago’s African Heritage in their costuming as well as demonstrate their talent in a local art form - be it dance, song or speech.
• This entertaining occasion seeks to emphasize that women are whose beauty, talent and industriousness complement each other.
