The Trinidad Theatre Workshop (TTW) also focuses on theatre training, but more so on theatre in education, particularly in the community. The organization sees its primary role as ‘research, training, development, and exposition of all performing arts disciplines considered to be integral to the advancement of the performing arts in Trinidad and Tobago.”
The objective of Trinidad Theatre WORKSHOP is to encourage expression of our Caribbean realities, through performance. The ‘Workshop’ facet of TTW includes outreach programmes like School for The Arts, Teen Theatre and Theatre In Education (T.I.E).
In this regard, TTW hosts a number of professional training workshops, as well as theatre in education programmes that are targeted at schools. The organization also has a social outreach programme in which its theatrein- education productions are carried to rural communities throughout the country with support form the Ministry of Community Development. It enables the continued future of professional theatre in Trinidad and Tobago with ongoing workshops and camps.
Trinidad Theatre Workshop (TTW) marked its 50th anniversary with several major events including “The Three Seasons” a series of Theatre. In addition, TTW has facilitated scholarships and fellowships to North American Institutions: Boston University and Arena Stage. These beneficiaries are: Dawn Cumberbatch, Louris Martin LeeSing, Glenda Thomas Mc Sween Collens and Raymond Ramcharitar.
